  1. The SSWC is, of course, as much about the tribe as it is about the
ride. The after-party was one of the most positive vibes I've ever
felt. And the go-cart race was a hoot. (Marla's a ringer.) The free
beer was plentiful, and we all got a heroic buzz on.

I was too busy suffering to get many pictures, but here are a few.

Shots of J. and me at the start:

Singlespeed World Champs Marla and Buck, victorious on the go-cart
    track:

    After the race:

A good shot of J. before the race with her game face on:

    KB's take on the race:

The local police blotter for that night:

We were unfortunately present for the second item on the blotter as
well as the first, a sad reminder of our auto-dominated society. Bikes
have yet to rule the world the way they did the trails on Sunday.

    Peace out,

    CC

Yeah, I heard '06 is going to be in New Zealand. But then I read this:

    http://www.surlybikes.com/surlyblog.html

Is this a sign of a schism? Are we going to have gangfights in the
streets with hooligans swining BMX chains? Kiwi airstrikes on
    Minneapolis? The mind boggles.

If someone's riding a CHUNK tallbike you're not allowed to whinge about
    the Giant's geometry, you hippie!

Hee. There were guys riding fixies on that course. Makes me want to cry
    just to think about it.
