LIDL vernier calipers

Yup, good tool for the price.
Other common uses include measuring chain wear (with the inside jaws),
checking rim thickness (need a spacer under the tyre lip which is subtracted
from the total), depth of tread (more use on the car!), and many others.

Recently I've seen them for £8.99 at Lidl and £9.99 at Aldi.

Expect the battery (LR44, easy to change) to last about a year of moderate
use.
They are every bit as good as other cheap digital calipers costing up to £30
a set.
And for the "total nerd", there is even a computer interface port.

I have a set for "general bashing" use, and a set of Mititoyo ones for best
(over five times the price of the Aldi ones).

The Aldi ones are better than the Lidl ones - there was a lot of play in the
Lidl ones when I went a-checkin' recently.

also Maplin are selling digital calipers for £15 at the moment, down
from £30, in a nice case with a spare battery. I wouldve had the Lidl or
Aldi ones if Id been in one of those first.

also Maplins plug-in electric meter (V, A, Hz, kWh etc - find out how
much your PC / TV / whatever is chewing) is now £13ish (previous one was £25

The local equivalent of B&Q here in Australia sell non-digital plastic ones
for about 50c (equivalent of about 20p). I bought one the other week and
confirmed that it was indeed worth about 20p (on a good day) but was
absolutely fine for more coarse measurements with about 0.5mm accuracy.

Battery calipers, farnell give them away occasionally.

I bought a crappy non-digital metal one off eBay a few months back for
£1.99. Slightly better than a ruler but not much use if youre wondering
whether your tube/bar is 26.8mm, 27.0mm or 27.2mm. ;o)

I'm interested in measuring the chain wear with the vernier, what is
the measurement please?
