I've seen him post lately, just not a lot. He was in the "zucchini's
muffins with photo" and "Midnight Supper" threads.

Hmmmmmm, I need advice from him about adapting a new cat to an existing
    household. Anyone have his e-mail?

Email me at dog30 at charter dot net. I have a possible new kitty coming
inside also. She (I named her Bart) is now letting me touch her and sleeps
in the garage on 'her' towel. She's very timid though. My cat Hoot hates
her guts. It'll be interesting but I have a plan that has not failed me
    yet.

Jill shared the pictures last night! That kitty needs your loving
care and a few of those calories we've trimmed from the eggplant
    recipe. 🙂

As far as introducing her into the household... keep her in the
bathroom for a week or so. That way she and the existing animals can
get to know each other under the door. You'll know when it's okay to
let them be face to face when you see kitty paws back & forth. You
can hold her initially as the sniffing commences, but eventually you
have to let them go. There will be a lot of posturing at first, but
don't over protect her and the other cat(s) will eventually decide
    she's ok.

We don't normally have more than one cat, but when we introduced a new
cat to the existing one recently, we did all of that and then left
them alone in the house because it was making me too nervous. When we
came back, they were friends and remained good buds.

Someone does, maybe it's Margaret. Why not ask Sheldon? I think he
    has more than one cat.

I did ask Sheldon, but it doesn't hurt to ask more than one person. My
current cats aren't all that pleased with me right now.

person. My current cats aren't all that pleased with me
    right now.

we're at 3 indoor, 2 barn (rarely inside) & one
indoor/outdoor cat... down from 11 indoor cats. at some point
(i think it was 5 cats in my house) the cats just stop
noticing newcomers, or at least just give a cursory sniff &
then go on doing whatever they were doing.
when you have an only cat for several years, and then try to
add another, you tend to get issues like dominance fights,
peeing in unacceptable locations, etc. in that instance, you
should introduce the new cat slowly.
my first cat after i moved out of my parent's was a Siamese
dumped by summer people going home in the fall. i had her 7
years as an only, then added an abandoned Maine Coon. there
was fireworks for about 3 months, then they became buddies. 1
years later i added 4 kittens someone dumped in my yard (the
joys of rural life). i foisted the female off on my brother &
kept the 3 boys. no problems with them & the older girls,
except the typical kittenish playing with sleeping adult cat
    type stuff.
and other cats (& dogs) have been added since with no more
than a cursory sniff. in my experience, cats aren't that
solitary. they enjoy other feline companionship.
