Hamilton Grills! A+

Well, I came home morning before last from work and found what was left
of my grill in a box on the dining room table. <groan> It was
thouroughly clean, but in pieces! My housmate had taken it aport to give
it a complete cleaning...

I'm sure it could be re-assembled, but....... it finally got me off my
butt to go and get a new grill. This one was too small anyway and I've
really fallen in love with electric grilling. It burns less power than
my stove and is faster, and much better for meat that nuking.

I gently bagged up my now deceased grill and put it out in the trash,
then headed to wal-mart.

I perused the various grills. My requirements were: Size, ease of use
and cleaning (I specifically wanted REMOVABLE grill plates!) and price,
in that order.

The foreman of the same size as the Hamilton was about $30.00 more and
the removal process was difficult and Mickey Mouse and difficult to put
back together! Yeah, it had an upper and lower temp. control but I did
not really care about that. Hot and fast is fine with me. ;-)
It was also ROUND which IMHO is just stupid.

The Hamilton was square, neat so it took up a little less counter space
for the same square inchage of grill space, and the grills were
literally a snap to remove and replace.

No temp. control, but a 15 minute adjustable timer turned it on and off.
Now I can leave it plugged in and time the food without setting an
external timer or watching the clock. Of course you still have to watch
that as it stays hot after the timer shuts off, but at least it "dings".

So, I got it home. My housemate had discovered that I'd thrown out the
old grill. He'd rescued it. <lol> Said he was not done playing with it
yet. Boys will be boys...... (He's 73)

I've used the new one 4 times already! Once for some egg rolls, then
some party wings (yes, it's GREAT for party wings! just put the flat
ones in the back and the drummetts in the front!), some grilled
hamburger and some boneless skinless chicken thighs with lemon pepper
and sesame seeds.

Love it and it's a snap to clean. :-) The grills just pop right out with
a single holding thingy per side and just snap right back in. I'm using
a soft washcloth to clean it and have warned my housemate if he goes
near with with a scrubbie, HE gets to replace it next time!

All in all, I needed to get this anyway and I'm very, very happy with it!

It was $47.00.

I have the large one and paid 109. cdn 2 1/2 yrs ago. A snap to clean
compared to the GF grill I had before. I learned, though that cleaning
as soon as it cools (which is about the time that supper is finished)
will keep the non stick coating from getting damaged. I think that the
salts or whatever cause a problem if it's left too long before
cleaning. My son has a GF, though and just sandwiches a wet paper towel
in it while they eat and cleans it after.... HTH Sharon

Yeah, I'm cleaning it now as soon as it's cool enough to handle, but I
don't really have to wait. I can remove the plates using a hot pan
holder and rinsing them in the sink cools them enough to clean them...

Just did grilled squash and whole portabello mushroom caps in it. The
caps cooked faster than I thought in only 5 minutes, but the squash is
taking about 10 minutes.
