    | Fortunately it didn't close its jaws, but I actually felt like killing
    | the owner at the time...

In that case I would have torn several strips off the owner.

    "He's just playing"

Any damage? (to you or the dog<g>😉

Just the kind of thing that gives dog owners a bad name. I'd be
distraught if Jake upset anyone inadvertently or not.

Many years ago my old Border Collie, calm as they come, was off the
lead and had been in the river. He then proceeded (unlike him - see
what I mean, they can be unpredictable, so we humans have to take
control and I believe this no matter HOW obedient the dog is) to jump
up a lady in a cream suit. I can not tell you how upset she was but it
stuck in my mind forever and I knew it would never happen again!!!!
There's a time and a place for everything and that includes being on
and off leads - and wearing cream suits, lol

My dog Alfie hates cows, he's a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and when he
barks at them they step back,

Well I bet cows hate Alfie too then.

No damage to the dog or to my hand (dog didn't close jaws), but my
heart missed a beat or two ;-)

    Best wishes,
