  1. I am now in Preston and have had a wonderful time. Had a mini crisis
last night when my frame broke at the rear drop out on my way to the
home of George a chap I'd met in Bristol. The frame was brazed up
within the hour at the home of Bill Nickson a Leyland bike shop owner
    and ex-professional cyclist.
Bill felt unable to guarantee the fix but I will press on and see how
far I can get on the premise that I would have been advised of the
inadvisability of continuing if he thought that it was unwise to
    continue.
Have had a rest day and most welcome it was too.

    onwards and upwards.....

Ah, a repair in the true spirit of cycling (I hope you didn't get assistance
with the bellows ... if you've read any TdeF history that'll make sense)

    Well done, great stuff!

  3. I also had the spokes in my rear wheel retensioned for free in
Shrewsbury curtesy of Stan Jones cycles. It is really heart warming to
    experience such kindness.

I do believe the same shop gave my headset a tighten, for free, when I was
on the E2E in June (IIRC - a proper bike shop with a bloke in a brown
    smock!)

The headset worked loose several times and was tightened by helpful LBS in
Dingwall, Dumbarton, Shrewsbury and somewhere else I can't remember (I've
now added a second lockring - problem solved)
