The tradition in Switzerland is that the bell is proportional to the
size of the cow. So the biggest cow has the biggest bell, thay way the
farmer has a rough idea of what cow is where simply by listening to the
tones of the bells. Goat's have small tinkly type bells, so it's easy to
recognise the difference between a goat bell and a cow bell.
