i have never been a 1500 meter runner. however back in the mid 80's(i am 53)
i set pr's of 31:57 in the 10k and 2:30:11 in the marathon. as for alan he
does set good times in races which mean nothing. it seems at least in the
last 2 years when it comes to the biggest races(the olympic 1500 final and
the world t&f championship final) alan has been less the steller in his
performance. fading badly in the last lap and finishing 9th in a field of 12
is not something to be proud of especially when many were predicting a top 5
finish for alan. -

loser. Everyone is a winner. Alan, you, me.... everyone...
And if you are not supporting him, you are against him. So you are
against all of us.Now, grow up.

pathetic performances by the american distance runners" is to oversimplify
it and not give enough credit to the ones who are winning. You're bashing
him over only two races, both of which follow several qualifying trial
heats. I'm not a cum-by-ya / everybody's a winner on the inside person, but
maybe the guy's had some bad luck. Winning races like that takes more than
going to the front and hanging on.My point is that without knowing the splits, without knowing Webb's PRs
vs the times that ended up winning, etc (maybe you do but I don't and you
didn't mention them) it's unfair to say pathetic performance. Maybe he felt
good and gambled with the fast pace (ala Billy Mills), maybe his coach feels
that this kind of front-running will best develop him to that level, we
don't know that. Maybe he felt it really was a bad performance. If you
really did know how to race well, I think you wouldn't be armchairing QB'ing
so pathetically. Go yell at a football game or something, where you'll have
company with other out-of-touch whiners.Dave

been running well lately (3:48 mile), and did well to get into the final (note
that some good runners were eliminated, including Komen!) so a top 5 wasn't out
of the question.Quoted message said:

His strategy was just fine but he was out of gas, and up against some very fast
guys.As for dwjones, he's just trolling/whining, as always.

want you to swing way out to lane 6 and zoom by all those motherf**kers

that no amount of long-distance cheerleading can change events depicted
