It's a myth. I've posted this before. I have two brothers who are an
inch taller than me and another who is an inch shorter. I started
weight training at 12 and they never really did ever. That's just one
case and there is a great deal more anecdotal evidence out there that
says it's a myth.

I think the point was that damage to the growth plates can stunt growth.
Your bones have some areas near the ends of the bones that are still
somewhat active. Mostly pulling on bones (from muscles being used) is a
good thing, though. Just be careful not to lift to failure. Learn good
form now and practice it a lot. (Instead of lifting to failure, lift
until you lose form and then quit. No hip-flinging bicep curls: if you
can't control the movements then you're done with that set.)
Being good at weightlifting also means being good at taking care of your
body so you aren't injured. Learn what you can about good nutrition and
the variety of exercises useful for a human body. A good place to start
are http://www.exRx.net and http://www.stumptuous.com/weights.html

Steroids can cause bone growth to prematurely stop. Not weightlifting.

You should have been three inches taller than you are.

"Or three inches shorter."

He's 15 moron. You're wanting to sell your [censored] to a child. Steroids will
stunt your growth at that age.
