Burley's helmet cover seems to fit my helmets just fine, with or
without sun visor.

I'm getting ready to go on a trip to Ireland. I don't bother with rainpants
in Texas, either, because I can always go home and change clothes. However,
on a trip....

on sale because they were going to be moving.

and i live in Rain Country(tm), the largest temperate rain forest
in the world. i rarely wear the entire suit, but when it's
howling and i just *have* to ride, it's nice to have it. i tend
to wear the jacket more often.

with the entire suit on, i can get almost as wet with it on as
with it off if i'm climbing a lot of hills. it's important to
wear wicking layers to get the moisture off your skin; in our
southeast alaska winters we wear a lot of polyester fleece in
various weights.

i recommend booties if you're riding clipless, too.

Do you recommend a jacket with a hood or one with helmet cover separate?
Are the usual winter-type shoe covers good enough? I have a pair from Pearl
Isumi.

If you live in the "largest temperate rain forest in the world" then
why are you mentioning Southeast Alaska?

When I did a search for the above, here's what I found from a couple
of sites:

Small pockets of temperate rain forests are also found in the Rocky
Mountain areas of northwestern Montana at its border with Canada.
However, the largest remaining portion of the North American temperate
rain forest is found in Olympic National Park in northwestern
Washington state.

So where do you live? Southeast AK, or Northwestern Washington state?
They are quite a bit apart, certainly not commutable by bike.

precipitation than anywhere in washington state is hardly "small
pockets". just more ignorance from someone who ignores the 49th

i live in southeast alaska, juneau to be specific. only a 36
hour ferry ride from bellingham.

Forest, but never mentions it as the largest TEMPERATE RAIN forest.

I lived in Alaska for three years back in the mid 80s, up by
Fairbanks. Many people love it, but I couldn't stand it and couldn't
wait to get back to the lower 48. To each their own.

consider an authority, a student paper on wikipedia. if you look
at the damn map next to the erroneous quotation about the largest
remaining portion being in washington state, you will notice that
the rain forest of southeastern alaska shown on the damn map is
far larger than the rain forest area shown in washington state.

But, for your education, the FIRST link you posted never mentioned the
words Rain and Forest together.
