Currently I live in Las Vegas. From what I can tell its not entirely to bike for commute friendly..
What I mean is in Monterey and Santa Cruz California, they had designate bike paths, at that time I could skate from point a to point b. Hell even Reno Nevada had specific maps that would route specific bike friendly paths. I cant seem to find anything like that in regards to Phoenix.
Who lives in or knows about Arizona/Phoenix cycling, bike paths,commuting..etc.
Also I cycle now as a security bike officer, anyone know of good paid bike jobs in the Phoenix area? I was thinking something like bike messenger. Cars fear me..LOL
Well, my cycling experience in Phoenix is 0 but in Scottsdale, it is perfect for cycling. They have paths, long, long roads to bike on and it is just great fun out there. There are bikers all over and Im excited to go back there (I vacation out there) and try out my new road bike! In the end, it is beautiful biking.
I moved to Tempe from Denver this year and I can say that it is a LOT better than denver's bike commute system. I ride to work just about everyday using the canals and bike lanes and haven't had any problems so far. Denver hardly has any bike lanes.

Here is a link to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) web site on biking. azbikeped.orgazbikeped.orgOpen ↗ They have a portion for maps of all of the different bike paths etc. Also if you get together with different groups down here you can find out other paths that are not on any map but are known good routs to go. The group I ride with has lots of maps for rides that have paths not otherwise printed.
You also might want to look at the Arizona Bicycle Club's web site. www.azbikeclub.com they are a great group that organizes tons of rides and has info on lots of paths.
