guys anyone familiar with this stuff? where do i go ? where are the
best sites? which ones do u visit? where is the good stuff ? ....to start:
a daily run for 10minutes, three days a week. Use a steady pace. If you
cannot run the whole time, alternate with walking, but KEEP MOVING the
entire time. When you are comfortable running for 10minutes, at a speed where you
can still talk while running, then you can increase the time,
gradually. (no more that 10 minutes per week) After several weeks you
should be running three or more days per week, 30minutes per run. it
may take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months to get to this
point.At this point
* you should plan on getting running shoes from a running shoe store,
not walmart or the mall store.* you may start measuring your distance, and your speed.
* you should start making one day a longer run, but don't increase your
weekly total time faster than 10minutes per week.* you should read the running FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) at
http://www.faqs.org/faqs/running-faq/* you may consider signing up and running a 5k race. (gives you a
chance to meet other runners and see what racing is like.)* you may consider finding a local running group or club, or even just
coworkers, to join in your running.* you should post here again anytime with any questions you have.
(beware though of the trolls that lurk here, posting insults and bad
advice)Welcome to running.

ive been running for about 6 montsh .it is good for you. just don't go
far or fast in beginning. go very slow or you will end up injured like
me. -
Before you begin, go back through the postings in this group, and see
how many of them are injury related. I get trashed in here constantly
for suggesting that jogging may be the cause of these jogger's injuries.
They're like lung cancer patient's who are in denial that the "3 packs a
day, for 25 years" love affair with the Marlboro Man may have been the
source of the problem. -
the injuries are mainly inflamed tendons or sore muscles. since running
my sweet tooth has disappeared. i don't crave junk food. my confidence
is up. it clears my mind. girls look at me. -
