fast beyond a couple of days, your body shifts into a body fat using
mode, and those toxins are released when the fat is used.
That can indeed cause health problems, and it doesn't surprize
me at all that some people sensitive to the toxins they have
have died.
That can be alleviated somewhat by drinking LOTS of water.

Fasting is a widespread method for the environmentally sensitive
to 'clean out' their bodies. It is usually combined with long
sauna sessions so that as much as possible of the toxins are
exuded in sweat.
If you've never fasted before, watch your body very carefully.
Stop the moment you experience any health problems. Those I know
who have successfully used fasting do it regularly (at least
once a year). They all combine fasting with other detox methods
such as saunas and chelates.
Personally, I don't think it worth the risks.
I dunno... If anyone had a polluted body, I probably did.
I grew up in the LA area and gre up on a crappy SAD diet.
I survived just fine, but I'd also learned to "listen" to my body.
Most deaths are due to electrolyte imbalances.
Study before you try it! I personally feel that at the very least, macro
and trace mineral supplements should be used during a fast.
You also should not do long term fasts without working up to them. 3
days is fairly safe for most people in reasonably good health. It took
me 6 months to work up to a 2 week fast and I still supplemented
vitamins and macro and trace minerals.
Books on fasting teach how to work up to a 30 day fast. I've never gone
quite that far. ;-)
