i'm curious if you guys play music while cooking. I love Rock and
usually i play an album while i'm cooking. Tracy Bonham is my recent
favorite. Her voice sounds cool. you guys heard of her at all? you like
    her music?

Sure! Sometimes the local non-Top 40's rock station or stuff (rock)
    from my own collection.

Personal preference, but especially on a line... I turn the box down.. or
completely off. It becomes a din of racket, and there is too much other
stuff to listen for in a working kitchen. Most of the young cooks I've
worked with want the box blasting.

Of course I listen to music, I am basically still a radio person. I
listen to WQXR FM, New York City, most of the day. It is a station
that only plays classical music. I have a radio playing in three
rooms, bedroom, den and dinette/kitchen, so that I do not miss
anything if I got from one room to another.

I do not really listen, most of the time I just hear it as
background music, but a couple of days ago they played Antonin
Drvorak's Symphony From The New World and not only did I get nothing
done, I burned everything in the oven. :o(

This is probably my favorite symphony and I envy everybody who has not
yet heard it for the first time in the right surroundings, in a
acoustically first rate auditorium and played by a good, live symphony
orchestra. If there is someone special sitting next to you, then it
should be close to being in Paradise. :o)

While I am sitting at my computer, simmering on the stove in the
kitchen is a pot with chicken gizzards. I could not get chicken
hearts, but the stomachs are good, too. I just have to stew them
longer, more than two hours, perhaps three. Served with mashed
    potatoes and cucumber salad.

Yep to all of that. In my restaurants, no music in the kitchen. The room
is loud anyway, and the music has to be very loud to be heard. It can be
heard out front then. Nope. The other reason is safety. If you can't
hear, you can't hear emergencies, cautions or changes.

At home, I used to listen to music, usually classic or rock. Nowadays, I
generally play recorded books unless I need to be concentrating closely
    on the tasks at hand.
