Hornless Saddles???

My wife has a "Comfort Seat". It is kind of goofy looking but she really likes it. The one thing she complains about is the amount of extra strain it puts on her arms. I tried it and it feels more like something you are leaning against rather than sitting on and it does add a lot of extra arm work to the ride.

I think, once again, here's a cure for a problem that shouldn't exist if you are fitted correctly on your bike. Yes, people are picky about saddles and so on, but I have a feeling that it's nowhere near as big a problem as everyone wants to think, or gets fooled into thinking by others. I've run 8 or more different saddles over the years on various bikes and the only time I ever had issues with numbing or pain, etc. was when I was in the wrong position. Period. I either had my saddle level wrong, or I was not seated correctly, or had my fit goofed up, but it added up to discomfort until it was remedied and never required the replacement of the saddle. You may find that with those saddles shown, if you get the angle messed up on them, that you will be putting a lot of pressure on your hands in an effort to push yourself onto the pads, and now your hands will be pained and/or numb, making you want to go buy some "Kinkomatic 5000 Super Happy Funtime Comfort Geometry Gloves", or "Doublethick Pillow Cushion Tape" or grips, or bar, or some other equally ridiculous replacement item when it might turn out you just needed to get the allen wrenches out and move the seat around.

I will assume that you, at this point, have played with a hundred different postions, angles and so on with your current saddle? I'd say if you haven't, do it. I did, because if I had listened to "common knowledge" of running my saddle completely level, I'd be having hand numbness on long rides. Turns out I'm one of those cats that have to have the nose slightly tilted upwards. It may take some time to find the sweet spot. If you have done all the hunting for the good position all this time, then maybe those saddles are your cure after all. I'd just hate to see you waste good money on a problem that may be easily solved with with a couple bolt-turns, and you could put that money to something worth it, like some good beer or a new pair of shorts.

I have also struggled with saddles, also because im big, 5'11" and 245 lbs, I tried several seats, and i mean several, fizik, selle italia, the specialized fit ones, and finally in disgust when at the LBS he said you want the most comfortable saddle?? He said I told several friends to use this one and they love it, I rode it for 4 years. So I bought it $110.00 it isn't cheap but thank god it worked, it is a Terry saddle. Has a scorpion on it, and says buzz off, man it is one spot I don't have pain anymore !!!!

Isn't that a Fly with the "buzz off" logo? The guys here that ride them say they are very comfortable. I ride a Fizik Arione, which is also an expensive saddle. But it's comfortable, and is holding up great in it's second season on my bike, at 7500 miles.

The hornless saddle seems like a dangerous idea to me. Might work for easy flat cruising down a bike path, but can't imagine trying to negotiate a bumpy, high-speed descent without having a saddle between my legs to hook onto. Would be kind of like trying to ride a Vespa vs a motorcycle with a tank to grip your knees against.

I think saddle comfort comes down to having a firm enough and wide enough saddle which supports your weight on your sitzbones without sagging. That, careful fit adjustment, and a few thousand miles to break in the backside are all it takes.

Ok OK , maybe it is a fly now that I took a good look at it, but I'm still gonna think of it as a scorpion, because scorpions are tough tough tough competitors, more than flies!
