Nothing has closed here in London, so far as I know, even though
police think there is still a third group of terrorists on the loose.
However, the restrictions on parking a bike in the general vicinity
of parliament, and the Whitehall government buildings, still remain.
They date back to an IRA bombing campaign about ten years ago, when
one bomb was left in a bike pannier.

You can usually take your bike on the trains in London during the
rush hour, but only counter-flow, not in the rush hour direction.

Not meaning to redirect the thread, but does London have a lot of bike
racks? Do employers provide spaces for you to rack up your bikes?

Certainly not as nice as riding, and also very difficult to do during
the evening rush hours, since the trains are so crowded.

This is pretty much the only way to ride a bike from southern New Jersey
to central Philadelphia. One of the DRPAs suggestions has been to take
the ferry, which costs 6 dollars and does not run in the morning.

non-motorized transport) in recent weeks anywhere else in the country
(and world)?

A couple of months ago the pedestrian/bike path on the George Washington
Bridge, that connects Manhattan to New Jersery, was closed from midnight to 6
am. They aren't stopping motor vehicle traffic at those times, so this is
pretty ludicrous.

I was a lot happier when there were guys with machine guns patroling the
bike path. That's an awful lot of damage that can be done from the bike
path, in the dark, with no one seeing anything.
