I recently acquired a 1970-something Motobecan road bike from a neighbor. It's tires are dried out and cracking and I would like to get some quality tires for it, instead of the cheap stuff Wal-Mart sells. However, I am new to the size designations given to road and racing tires now and I don't want to spend money on something without knowing for sure that it will fit without having to get new rims. The rims that were on the bike are 27" and the tires that were one it were 27x1 1/4. I see all the numbers on road tires like 700x23 and whatnot, and I would like to know what will be compatible with 27" rims, as these numbers are all greek to me.
Any help anyone could give me would be great. Thanks!
