Total newbie to mountain biking. Used to be an avid cyclist in the old Raleigh Racer days!!!
Basically looking for some guidance on what bike to choose around the £200 mark to get me started. i.e what make should I buy for this low end budget. Links, pics, any help is much appreciated.
Specialised hardrocks are available in last years flavours for sub £250 and if you can wait a little while the 2006 ranges will be coming out very soon thus driving down the price on '05's and making '04 models cheaper still.

I'm with Andy, push it up a little and get a hardrock or maybe a trek at a similar price. Dont go for one of your supermarket 'Carrera' bikes or similar. Checkout buyabikedirect.co.uk - they do last years models quite cheaply.

I'd actually lean towards a used bike. Too many guys think they have to have the newest model every couple years and you can pick up a year old mid-range bike for a very reasonable price. I've bought two used bikes off of ebay and although it's always a gamble I have ended up with great bikes everytime...
