  1. Hello,
I have now put some of the articles written about us and the Mike
Burrows "8 Freight" on our website, you can access them on
    http://www.av2hire.co.uk/press.htm
This includes the full transcript of the VeloVision article.

The latest one is about our fracas with the police who were of the
opinion that the bicycle was a "terrorist threat"

Seems like I had a narrow escape... I rode down to Tesco on mine on the
same day as the bombings. Our Great Leader went down to Londion via
Dundee airport, which I pass directly by on my way, so I was within a
couple of hours of wholesale perforation by the Security Services.
    Lucky I haven't got a beard any more! ;-/

  3. Doh! Surely a terrorist would be riding a battered mtb - preferably a
cheap one from Aldi, so as to blend in with all the other new bike
commuters, rather than something that looks so distinctive.

Al Quaeda's crack cycle terrorism squad aren't reckoned to be too
    bright, apparently.

For example, to stop them blowing up Dundee Docks the cycle path through
that place[1] now requires special passes with photo IDs that you need a
passport to get hold of. Quite why anyone with a bit of a Clue would go
to all that trouble when all you have to do to get in is cross a railway
line and climb over or cut through a 6' plain wire fence is a bit of a
mystery, so the "obvious" conclusion is that cycle-borne terrorists are
numpties. Can't be anything to do with foolishness on the part of the
security folk, deary me no! ;-/

    Pete.

[1] the access gates at the end make it a bit of a pain getting the 8
Freight in, so clearly they're a Big Threat. Probably. Perhaps.

I nearly had need of visiting the welders there and was going to go by
bike. Almost looking forward to having a jobsworth telling me to use
the cycle path when you cannot access the businesses in the docks from
it. As it was I didn't need to.

WRT ID cards, all you need to do is to participate in a mass cycle
event and then you do not need ID. They just open the gates for you (eg
the Green Circuylar Route ride, or even the Audax rides)

    "ID card son"

"Don't need one, I'm on the Green Circular Route ride"

    "That was two weeks ago"

    "I got dropped......"
