I've been on a mtn. bike for while and just bought my first real road bike. I'm still getting used to the way things operate and I have a question about the trim feature on the front derailleur (short click to relieve chain rub when cross-chaining). My LBS told me that the 105 setup I have doesn't offer the trim function from the large chainring - just the middle and small. That sounds bogus to me since trim on the large ring works on the Ultegra bikes I rode. So my question - is my LBS correct that 105 shifters don't offer the trim feature from the large ring or have they been into the tire whip-its again?

9 speed ultegra and 105 shifters are functionally identical.
