  1. Hi,

I'm new to the forum and relatively new to bikes. I'm currently riding a Giant TCR Aero with Ultegra 9spd. I'm thinking of upgrading to Dura Ace but I don't have enough money for the 10spd, but thinking of upgrading later. My question is if I'm getting 9spd set, which 10spd components can I mix in, so that in the future I would not have to spend so much to upgrade. Specifically, I want to use the 7800's BB/Crank. The only reason that I'm doing this is that I'm getting a great deal on the 9spd components.

    Thx

I wouldn't waste my money on upgrading 9 speed ultegra to 9 speed DA, unless you just like throwingmoney away and have terminal upgraditis. Just leave it ultegra and juse the DA 10 crank if spending that much for a frigging crank makes sense to you.

    What he said! :o

But if you must...I don't believe that you can mix match the drivetrain (shifter, deraileurs)

The only thing unique to DA 10 in a compatibility sense relative to ultegra or DA 9 is shifters, cassette and chain.
