This is something I got through the grapevine, not confirmed yet. I
understand Andre was driving today. Team Rona vehicle was regulated to the
end of the caravan for stage five concerning rule 25 and 28, fined 160.00
total. Breech of regulation concerning vechicle movement during the race,
Failure to respect instructions by the Race Commissaires.

That was Tour de 'Toona 2004.

    This year, stage 4:

    FINES:

USCF Rule 4H14 - Breach of Regulation concerning movement of vehicle
during race $140 to the driver of The Bicycle Store Vehicle and
relegation to the end of the Caravan for The Bicycle Store.

    Way to go, André ...

From what I've seen of US commissaires... you could get a fine for

almost anything.. they are (most of them, not all I'm sure) a little
lost when it comes to real races.. few of them have genuine caravan
experience.. and they think a caravan is a really great and exceptional
thing.. they feel all high and mighty when they get the "chance" to
work a race with an (big word) "caravan"... ouhh la la...

The commissaire might have been justified here, but for some reason
    (experience)... I doubt it...

    dumbass,

perhaps. but also some managers think being in a caravan = drive like
crazy. it's gotta be worse with qubecers.

on my way to a race once a quebec team car blasted by me at maybe 160
kph, complete with like six bikes on the roof. five minutes later i
passed them while they were stopped by the cops.

  4. So... what does getting stopped by cops have to do with anything...
Outside the US you drive at 160 on the motoreway, it's no probleme..
including bikes, antenae etc... what does that have to do with
anything? Rules of the road and Rules of the Caravan are 2 totally
    different things.
Are you saying Commissaires in races are equivalent to the cops out on
    the road?

I've worked a race where he was fined after being warned. He deserves
everything he gets and more. He is a danger to other teams riders, and
the public out on the roads at best.
This is nothing new with him.
Don't know the specifics, but I'd guess it's exactly the same stuff
he's been fined for before. He's convinced he should be able to do
anything he wants with no regard for anyone else.

  6. Fair enough... I don't know the guy, so... My comment was more on
Commisaires in genereal... but if he deserves it... end of.
