I don't actually think Jan hates Jews for being Jewish.
I DO think she has some misconceptions about people different from
her, and she has a rather hamfisted way of expressing her views.
She also has a problem separating a person's views on Alternative
Medicine (on-topic in this newsgroup) from their real or suspected
religious affiliation (not on-topic in this newsgroup). I don't know
where she gets the idea that being Jewish or atheist makes one more
likely to be anti-alt...the biggest herb tea drinking, crystal
wearing, magnet waving "alternative" types I know are also among the
atheists I know.
I guess her idea is that if they differ from her in terms of religion,
they must therefore differ from her on other topics...kind of an
ignorant way to categorize people, but that's what it looks like to
me.
Bottom line, I don't think Jan hates Jews; I just think #1) she is
ignorant, and #2) she can't get beyond a simplistic "Us-vs.-Them"
mentality. Kind of like Rush Limbaugh, in a way: according to Rush,
if you're not a conservative, you are by default a bed-wetting
liberal...no middle ground.
Just my thoughts.
