During a recent short ride to the station in the rain, I decided to cycle more slowly than normal and wear my waterproof (Altura NevisLite) so as to avoid a soaking.
On arrival at the station, I felt somewhat damp and removal of the jacket revealed three lines of wetness, corresponding exactly to the positions of the zip and two side seams. It would appear that the taped seams are no longer waterproofed.
Two questions then:
1) Does anyone have contact details for Altura (Do they even exist?) 2) Would http://www.pennineoutdoor.co.uk/accessories.asp?sid=12 be an appropriate fix? How easy is it likely to be to remove the old tape and replace it?
Apart from the rumours that Pennine Outdoor have gone bust, I have used this tape. It is 'interesting in application. Too cold an iron and it doesn't stick. Too hot an iron and it melts. You need to ger it just right with just the right amount of pressure. A heated roller is the thing rather than an iron but is not an easy thing to get hold of.

Ooh! I remember that stuff. When Nathan was five we started rambling and did it a lot. Back then I couldn't get any proper kit for him in the shops. So I bought some waterproof/breathable fabric and seam tape and made Nathan a pair of waterproof overtrousers. You are correct about applying it, it's an awkward thing and not something I'd be overly keen to do again. I also spent ages seeking out a stout pair of boots for him and then rubbing Nikwax into then to waterproof the boots...

About two years IIRC. It's been through the wash a few times which probably didn't help matters. I've left a message with Zyro (Number different from the one you gave Vernon, 01845 521700) who have a very helpful answerphone message which says, "leave us your details and we'll send you a catalogue or leave us a number and we might phone"... I await a response!
I'll need to get it sorted in time for the rainy season (August - June in Edinburgh!).
