Could anyone please suggest any nice romantic hotel/b&b in or around Malham
area where I can take wife for our wedding anniversary.
Have looked at Beck Hall - anyone stayed there ? Recommend etc ?
Thanks

Tudor House at Bell Busk.
It's an old railway station on the Settle-Carlisle line so perhaps not the
best place for those who wake easily - goods trains do occasionally trundle
through overnight.

Used to be a big fan of B&Bs etc in Malham, but haven't been for a while
as I liked it so much I moved to the area. I'm leaning towards
recommending Settle: it's a wonderful walk (depending on which route you
use - there are several) to Malham, there is a big choice of B&Bs, and
several good eating places. In Malham, for eating you're mainly
restricted to the Buck & the Listers for food (which are both pretty
good for food) if you want to go out (and don't want to drive).
Places to stay in Settle: me thinks the best bet would be Whitefriars
http://www.whitefriars-settle.co.uk/, although there are loads of others
including the North Range of the Folly http://www.the-folly.co.uk/ (very
atmospheric), but it's self-catering and I don't know what the minimum
period of stay is. The Falcon Manor would probably not be recommended.
Restaurants to eat in Settle (for wedding anniversary type meal):
Ravenous (http://www.ravenous4food.co.uk/ but website is under
construction; tel 01729 822277) or The Little House
(http://www.littlehouserestaurant.co.uk/): the choice between those two
depends on your mood.
Then there's all the other stuff in Settle worth a look, like the Naked
Man (!) café, the two gear shops, the Museum
(http://www.ncbpt.org.uk/folly/), the railway, all the walking (in every
direction), and Settle's own website http://www.settle.org.uk/
Allan
I have no connection with any of the above commercial organisations
apart from being a happy customer of most of them and living in Settle

I would recommend Settle as well. Malham is just far too busy. It is a good
walk over to Malham and if you haave a car you can easily get over there for
an evening. Settle is a very nice little town.
