  1. Been running in the army for about 5 years now just starting to get
really in to it. I just bought a pair of the nike free shoes what do
    you all think of those.

This is your first mistake. Trash the nikes. Nikes are designer shoes,
not running shoes, at least not for under $150. But even then you get a
shoe that is inferior, cheaply made, wraught with QC issues, and of
poor design. Just about any other brand will give you much more shoe
    for the money.

It would be best to buy shoes in one of the running speciality stores
where you have trained people who would be able to assist you in
finding the type of shoe that you need depending on your foot
    pronation, comfort and other factors.

Not to mention the fact he bought racing flats, not training shoes.

    Welcome to the group.

I think if they make your legs or feet sore you should throw them away.
Most of us will hurt ourselves running regularly on such a light shoe.
As well, if they work out for you, replace them every 300miles instead
of the standard 500mi. IME, light shoes take much more abuse and don't have
the same life as regular trainers.
