  1. I'm glad you're ok :-(

I'm rapidly learning what a scary place it can be out there on busy
    roads, on a bike.

But for the most part it is huge fun. This evening I did a twilight pootle
around with Vernon. We cycled the lanes watching the sun gradually set. We
were greeted by Tetley, a semi-feral cat that inhabits a place where the
hunting is good. I stopped and communed with him - he always comes runnig to
see me, and he gets a good earscritiching :-) Then we passed loads of geese
in a newly harvested field. Lovely :-)

    Cheers, helen s

    True, it's frequently lovely 🙂

On my way home from work this evening I was on a psychlopath when I
passed what looked like a very small mouse, just sitting in the middle
of the track. I stopped and rode back, and sure enough it was a very
small mouse, or vole, just sitting there, only about 6 feet from a
busy dual carriageway. I picked it up and put it carefully on the
grass verge, but it immediately dashed back towards the tarmac! I had
to move it 3 more times before it finally consented to sit on the
    grass under the hedge.

Occasionally I ride past a cat - I always call over, and they normally
stop what they're doing and look towards the bike in surprise 🙂

    Best wishes,

Oh no... a live one? Commiserations!

When I'm riding on the cyclepath on damp mornings, I spend a lot of
    time dodging the slugs...

Nice warm tarmac. I think that's why sheep sit on it too.

Yes it was before I hit it, but on retracing my route half-an-hour
    later it had disappeared.
    So perhaps it survived.

A few weeks back, one *very* early morning I came across a pigeon in
some distress flapping about on the road - broken wing I think.
I had just passed a local roadside 'real' gypsy encampment, so picked up
the bird and took it to their caravan (the real hooped type).

I really know I should have killed it, but its something I just cannot do.
The gypsy lady said she'd sort it, and, with a glint in her eye, thanked me.

I reckon they had pigeon pie that night.
