So, I need a new racing wheelset and I've never been a fan of factory built wheels.
I have a set of White Industries hubs (24h front, 28h rear) that I would like to have built into a wheelset, but I'm having a devil of a time picking rims to use. There just aren't many choices for good tubular rims it seems, and even fewer in those hole patterns.
So, I guess my question is ... anyone have any experience buying tubular rims recently and which rims did you go with, and why? I'm looking for something light and not very deep, I live in Kansas and the heavy crosswinds make "aero" rims a pain to ride at times (same with heavily bladed spokes).
Never had any experience with Velocity rims. Are they any good (how well do they hold true / how stiff)?
I've had some experience with the Deep V, and they're crazy strong. The finish is pretty good, with well machined sidewalls and slightly rough anodizing. I'm not too fond of the lack of eyelets, but I'm sure that causes fewer difficulties for wheelbuilders better than myself.

Velocity rims are not as refined as Mavic, but the hold true well and use a tough alloy. Stiffness depends on many contributions, but for the rim weight they are as stiff or stiffer than Mavic, Ambrosio, Sun, KRA, and FIR rims I have tried.
