  1. Is this off topic? If so, I apologize.

Anyone have a great Sangria recipe to share? I want to have a pitcher of
Sangria on hand for dinner on my next sailing trip.

    TIA

I never follow a recipe, but everyone like my "fruit juice". bottle of
wine, cut up a lemon, lime, orange, add in some apple juice or cranberry or
whatever is on hand. Chill, sip and enjoy.

From a friend who lived in Spain:

    The Basics
    * .75 liter bottle of chilled red wine,--not too heavy, not expensive‹Rijoa
is favored in Spain, but Cab is fine
*1 liter Citrus flavored fizzy soda (sprite, Seven-up diet is fine)

    The Fruit
    Slices of lemon, lime, orange
    1/4 cup Brandy

    Now for the good part:

The fruit marinade is decided based on the auspiciousness of the occasion.
For everyday, we might just use just brandy and one liqueur. The more
honored the guest, the more varieties were used.

Marinate the fruit overnight in brandy plus any liqueurs you have on hand
that sound compatible, using a glug or so of two or three: Orange-based
Grand Marnier, Triple Sec, or Drambuie, limoncello, midori, cassis, crème
de banana, peach schnappsŠ anything with a fruity base.

Place the chilled wine in a large pitcher, Add some of the fruit and juices
from the marinade, Add ice, and Sprite just before serving. Make sure
everyone gets a little fruit in their glass.

How can this be off topic? Cooking includes beverages, IMHO.

    Sangria

    Beverages

    1/3 cup sugar
    1/3 cup water
1 750-ml dry red wine; chilled
    2 ounces brandy
    1 bunch lime; thinly sliced
    1 lemon extract; thinly sliced
    1 orange; thinly sliced
    juice of 1 orange
    1 cup club soda; chilled
    ice cubes

Combine sugar and water in small saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer
until sugar is dissolved. Chill. Combine wine, brandy, syrup, lime
slices, lemon slices and orange slices and orange juice in a large
pitcher. Refrigerate no longer than 1 hour or peels will make drink
taste bitter. To serve, stir in club soda and pour over ice in tall
    glasses or large wine glasses.

    Yield: 6 servings

    1 bottle red wine
    1 sliced orange, juicy
    2 sliced lemons
    2 sliced limes
2 T. Orange liquer (like Grand Marnier)
    2 T. Brandy
    ~ 2 T. sugar or to taste
    Abundant ice

Ice is key to the final product, as is allowing the concoction to sit and
steep for an hour or so before drinking.
