proper motivation; fun; science; and professional transportation after
the stage ends versus many other teams' (e.g., Gerolsteiner) three
stooges-like escapades in getting back to their hotels.

You may have to stoop to sub-species mockery to peer under the hood for
some sort of an adjustment. 😉

Subspecies include Americans (USA only), americans (USA + Canada),
norte americanos (Mexicans), all Americans (just N. Americans), and All
Americans (North, Central, and South America), and of course all Euros
and others (the majority).

Of course I'd applaud the day when there are two "American" teams at
the Tour. Remember when Mercury almost made the Tour -- was that 2000
or 1999?

The San Francisco Forty-Niners of the 1980's.
The owner paid everybody well above scale; not only the stars. On
road trips everybody flew first class; stayed in luxurious
accommodations. Flew to road games a day early so they were rested
for the game.
Result: 4 league championships in 10 years.

And Subaru-Montgomery could have been there as a composite team in 1994, if
I recall correctly.
