  1. it would be a truly fine day for hincapie to win PR, and there have
been many beautiful moments where hincapie has buried himself for
    armstrong.

a return by armstrong--the super domestique being gifted a victory by a
demonstrative star--would have been a beautiful moment. but this was no
    gift.

so what do we have? a classics contender who either cannot or will not
win, and a tour domestique who has now--by his own will--won a stage?

the lost potential. i wonder what might have been.

    j.

ps. hincapire finding his confidence through this off-suit victory and
taking the rdv and pr next year would really be something.

Hincapie's life is terrific right now. He's by far not the only
talented rider one could say that about.
My memory (maybe Carl could confirm this) is that George's first
national championship was as a pursuiter--as an intermediate.
I knew George casually when he was in New York, and his brother and
father. He has a good head on his shoulders, and a supportive family.
I see nothing sad about this.

Knock it off. George has had many days where he was
the number one guy. Up until this year the days
where he justified it have been few.

Whatever he's doing different this year, it's working.

I couldn't agree more, Steve. I couldn't say I even know George casually,
but I've met him a few times and chatted with him. He seems like a very
nice and very "together" person. I live in Upstate South Carolina and
George is a local. I hear all kinds of "insider" stuff about him (not much
of it worth repeating ... I don't believe most of it 'cuz it's told by
people who are only out to impress). I get the sense that he's very content
with the role he's found for himself and it seems to be serving him quite
well. I don't know how he's compensated by Discovery, but I suspect it's
rather well. I understand that his clothing business (thanks mostly to his
brother) is doing quite well, too. Should he cast his lot with those who
have gone before him and left Lance's side? Livingston? Hamilton? Heras?
etc? I suspect George sleeps just fine at night. He bears some weight of
expectation ... but nothing like that being carried by Levi and Floyd and
    Roberto.

I think George is one of those rare folks who found his niche and has made
the very most of it. There's not a thing sad about that.

Yeah, Lance pushed Hincapie the whole way and then shooved him over the line
first. If I hadn't read it from you I'd never have believed it.

  8. Probably more like 290 daze/year.

    It's "days", you idiot.

Stop writing like a stoner. It stopped being cool in the 80s.

I'm 22, which is legal in every nation I'm aware of. The only thing I
can't do is rent the blimp myself.

Sorry Ken, just looking for the signal. All I see here is noise. (not
    noize).

  18. You see no signal in Basso's sister image links?
Are you warm blooded man? Where's your sense of humor or any innate
sense of self deprecation you posses Mr. KL?
