It gave me a good chuckle too.

Some years ago I rode the Raid Pyrenean and I always enjoy the
Pyrenees section of Le Tour. It never ceases to amaze me how they get
over those Cols. It took me all morning to climb the Col de
Peyresourde (1569m) from Arreau at an average of 3kph - mind you, I
did have full camping gear in my panniers and allowed myself a short
rest after every 100m of assent.

Really amazes me it doesn't happen more often....or maybe it does, but
they just don't show it!

Personally, I think the last two days have been trully awesome
viewing.

I've done the odd cycling/camping trip too.Its blinking hard work
carrying all that gear with you.
Perhaps that's 'Tex' Armstrong's secret training method - doing the
Ventoux with a 2-man tent,sleeping bag,pots 'n' pans,gas stove,2 weeks
worth of Pot Noodle,bog rolls,cutlery et al , a week before the Tour
starts.

The next picture on says that Oscar Pereiro is spraying himself with
water.
The bottle says Rivella - which is the soft drink the Swiss make
from milk. Looks like clear water though, so I guess this is a bottle
of water advertising Rivella.

they get all these perlonkers from? football closed season perhaps?

of the French tourist board TV advert a few years ago, idyllic Year in

Well, the cameramen weren't injured - and can you imagine the reaction
of the flics to someone interrupting the Tour ? He'd have got five
years - and that's before his trial !
