I've been doing my new 9 mile e/w commute for about 3 weeks now and that
might be why I am absolutely knackered in the evenings and haven't
posted much.
A quick recap of recent cycling events:
I mentioned that the new FD is a cyclist and, true to Guy's prediction,
we're getting tax deductable bikes and sheffield stands all round. Hurrah.
At my daughters' Sports Day, I noticed 2 KMX karts being tooled around
by elder/younger siblings. It seems to be the done thing for the
previously educated/yet to be educated brothers and sisters to bring a
bike and race around the grounds. Dozens of 'em and not a plastic hat to
be seen.
Hurrah.
The A27 with its (ignored by me) blue-signed pavements is a pain to
cycle along. I have been shouted at, hooted or had some sort of motorist
interaction almost every day.
Boo.
My youngest daughter (6) did her first utility ride recently; 7 miles to
her cousin's 3rd birthday. Noticed that riding two abreast with a small
child is wonderful. Cars wait patiently to overtake and give a massive
berth when they eventually do so.
Hurrah.
It's getting dark in the mornings.
Boo.
Right, that's it for the evening. I'm off to drink some wine and doze in
an armchair.
