  1. 174 Michael Rasmussen (Den) Rabobank 3.14

It's entirely possible that he was not giving an honest
effort because he was focused on stage wins and not GC,
and the way to get stage wins is to not be a GC threat.
But if that is not the case then you would have to
expect time losses in the second TT that would be
    measured with a calendar.

  2. I'd like to think he'll be the competition...but I can't really see him
dropping a problem-free Armstrong...or if he can even keep up when it tips
    up to the serious steeps.

He did a vicious 76km cannibal time trial on Sunday that erased his
    prologue and TTT deficits.

He will loose 7-10 minuttes in the final TT :-( However i think he
will tear the jearsy of L.Armstrong but not by enough to survive the
    final TT.

Maybe he was just bluffing! Yeah, that's it. He just mislead everyone
into thinking he was way off form...

  6. How does one "loose" time anyway? I've often wondered that.

You don't hold on tight and the time gets away.

Comon now, don't exagerate. He'll start the next TT with a whole
different attitude then the first TT. I don't see him losing more than
    5'.
Don't forget even the non-TT specialists in the top of the GC are
normally able of riding a good TT at the end of the Tour (according to
their normal TT capabilities; e.g Simoni always got a good final TT at
the Giro the last years). At that time the riders' reserve is more
important than the pure TT qualitities. It's like a sprint after a
classic of 260km, which is totally different from a sprint after a flat
    stage of 180km.
I would say Rasmussen makes top35

I like that theory. Also on Stage 1

8 Jens Voigt (Ger) Team CSC 1.04
41 Christophe Moreau (Fra) Credit Agricole 1.50

This makes me wonder why Voigt and Moreau together didn't gain on
Rasmussen at the end of Stage 9.
