I like Bobby so I don't really qualify but from what I've seen over
the years is that it goes back to the late 90's when he would say
stuff like 'Ullrich and I have a long future here', referring to the
TdF.He was cocky, as all pro atheletes tend to be, whether they say it out
loud or not. And rightly they should be.D

I think that eventually, maybe around the time he joined CSC,
Julich forgave himself for not being the next Greg Lemond.There seem to be quite a few people (like RBR's own "Yves Ladouche"😉
who still haven't been able to forgive him for it.
