Chain upgrade

I have already fitted a pair of shimano wheels said to be " 9 Speed " but they have 7 speed cassette with a spacer to match the 7 speed shifters.
Due to a mate upgrading his bike , I have the chance to fit a Shimano 9 speed M750 cassette & a set of Shimano Deore STi Brake & Shifter Combo's.

I've seen chains described as 7 speed / 9 speed etc so do I need to fit a new chain ?
Also do you see any other problems ?

Ya need a 9 speed chain with the 9 speed cassette.

Are 9 speed chains all the same ? i.e. Can I just buy any of the Shimano 9 speed chains ? ( They seem to have a few 9 speed chains with different claims for each !! )

Sram has the esy to remove power link connector.

Wipperman chains are very good and have a well designed "powerlink".

SRAM is a great way to go. Even their least expensive chain comes with a link that makes installation, cleaning, re-installation very easy and goof-proof.
