I know us guys north of the Borders tend to 'knock' you guys from the south
sometimes, but it's only a bit of banter. I do hope, sincerely, that none of
you, or yours, got caught up in that horrendous affair this morning. It makes the G8 'riots' in Scotland pale into insignificance!

"Weekend of the 15 16 17th anybody? I'll be further north than the
Southern Uplands for the two weeks previous to that so St Mary's Loch
would be handy."So, I reckon he'll be well away from London right now. I hope so.

I've heard from a friend in the City that he's OK; I've not yet heard
from my mother, but unless she had a hospital appointment she
shouldn't have been near the centre of London. Phil's the only one I
know of here who's London-based - I'm sure there are others though.

Watford, now you mention it I have heard people say something
about "southern softy" just because I put a padded jacket on when
it fell below 70F :-)Quoted message said:

Hello! Is there any cake going spare? Ate all mine yesterday while sitting
at home watching the news.
I was due to work the late shift yesterday starting at 1pm but that changed
pretty rapidly with the shutdown of all the public transport. All my 'Tube
Strike' contingency plans went out the window so I called work and waited to
hear back. The Eye was hardly open yesterday and today is going to be very
interesting...Nick (in Epping which is most certainly not part of London! ;-) )

No 's not. 'S almost Essex, in the same way that Beckenham is almost
Kent. Good job you weren't at work though - a tad too close for
comfort. I guess you sit at home and await instructions.--

Whereabouts are you Mike? I hadn't registered that you were that
close in - or is it work that takes you to the Wen? IRA? Yes, we
used to just ignore 'em and carry on regardless. They never managed
to produce anything on yesterday's scale, mind. (I was working in the
EC3 area from the mid 70s to the mid 80s)

Tower 42. Funnily enough it was that lone looney who came nearest
to getting my wife, she was one street away from the Admiral
Duncan.
The Luftwaffe nearly got me (is he that old they think?) a Stuka
it was, during the Guards Armoured division push to relieve the
paras at Arnhem[1], my dad dived dived under a lorry which
promply blew up, put him out of the war but still able to do the
business and produce Reid Jnr just before they introduced the
free health service! Theres timing.
I'm beiginning to sound like some old buffer, spose I am! :-)1] the details might not be quite right, he didnt talk about it.
Now, all together "therell be bluebirds over the white cliffs of
Dover......"

"Londoners can take it" is the phrase going the rounds again,
according to Robert Elms, he heard it once from a bloke "just off
the boat" after an IRA bomb!

not to mention girls strutting their stuff and people enjoying a
pint after work.Ah, summer! I love this weather for enjoying a pint or three while
watching the girls go by.
From what I see on the news, you're all virtually back to normal.
Let's now hope they catch the barstewards and deal with them
accordingly.
Sadly, of course, things will never be normal again for some.
