I read "Natural Cures They Don't Want You to Know About" at the bookstore
last week. What a bunch of paranoid claptrap. A lot of the same [censored]
about conspiracy among the pharmaceutical companies, the doctors, the
hospitals, and the medical insurance industry to supress alternative
medicine and enrich themselves at the expense of the reader's health. Like
PeterB and Ilena and Jan and other conspiracy paranoids in this newsgroup,
Trudeau is all accusation and no evidence.

Note that I didn't BUY the book -- I don't want to enrich this fraud by even
the few cents of royalty he would get on such a purchase. Fortunately
Borders provides a comfortable coffee shop where I can read, and they don't
object to my reading their merchandise.

Did you read the UPDATED EDITION of the "Natural Cures" book?
The updated edition is supposed to have listed cures for 50 specific
diseases.

I purchased the original edition of the book. I thought that the
original book was a re-hash of good, general ideas of diet / health habits
that any real health nut should / would know already.

It is supposed to. It doesn't. It just lists recommended herbs and the like
for specific conditions. Not a "cure" in the lot.

Isn't that what the chemical drugs do in essence? Treat the symptoms
but not a "cure" in the lot. From the drug development companies on
down everyone gets rich ........including the undertaker.

Many diseases can be prevented or cured by conventional medicine. Some
diseases that are so far incurable or unpreventable, can be controlled by
conventional medicine, and that does not mean just symptomatic treatment.
For example, insulin greatly extends the life expectancy of diabetics, and
prevents or delays many of the complications as well. Effective symptomatic
treatment has value as well. Ask any arthritis patient.

The undertaker's business is independent of our choices in healthcare, as,
eventually, we all, including the undertaker, end up there.

Life is a sexually transmitted terminal condition.
