  1. As of 6AM Pacific, I weighed in at 164.8, which makes my original goal of
165 official. (Yesterday, I still had half a pound to go.) I'm male: 5'
    8"

During the 1980's I had reached 165 with a starvation diet. I had
remembered thinking that was a good weight at the time, so I set my goal at
    165. Now that I am recovering from having been as high as 320, my body does
not hold its fat evenly distributed. Thus, it is obvious I need to continue
on. My new goal is 150.

Cubit, that's an almost unbelievable accomplishment. It was a long
road and it seems that weight loss was not an epic struggle for you,
which hopefully will translate in weight maintenance of approximately
the same difficulty. I wish you success...

It's nice to know that you lost all this weight, eating mostly fat.

  3. I never figured you for one that would have what it takes.

  4. Cubit, you are officially one of my Heros now!!!!

Remember the day you started low-carb...remember the day you started to
read, and then post to this group...remember the days you spent in between,
learning and re-learning, the road was one step at a time...and now:

    YOU ARE AT GOAL!!!!!

Man, that deserves a standing ovation! Good for you, I am so glad I got to
see your post the day you reached goal!

If the problem is distribution, maybe the solution is
firming more than it's further loss? Something to
    consider as an alternate.

Loosing weight is addictive, is not it? 🙂

(Been there too.. Gone through 4 goals.)

Anyway, do not forget adjustments for your glycogen, if you want to
match goal reached via non-LC method.

Do heavy carb-up before deciding what your real weight is (done that on
weekend - eight beers and unlimited carb calories - ended with 6 pounds
    of water/glycogen up next day).

That's fantastic. I bet you look and feel like a totally different
person! I've lost alot less weight than you have, and it hasn't been
fun for me. I admire that you've had the dedication to stick with it.

I saw some of Cubit's earlier pictures that he posted a few months
earlier. Even then, he looked like a completely different person from
    his fat picture.

So is that called an experiment or a celebration? ;^)
No need for it to have only one purpose, right?

The amount lost during Induction is a good max to figure
glycogen plus the water it is dissolved in. Induction
includes some fat loss so it will be an over-estimate.
I lost 8 on my first Induction, and my water retention
swing is 6. (For folks doing ketosis but not Induction,
your loss on day 15 is the number to use).

  13. When I switched from a moderate carb diet to a low carb diet (already
at normal weight), my weight loss was zero.

    Congrats again (OFFICIAL congrats :-)!

I know what you mean about revising the goal weight. I don't know how
I'll feel about it when I get to 125 lbs (and I WILL get there
eventually), but I know that when I was at 137 lbs before, I was
thinner. The big difference this time is that I have a lot of sagging
skin, so the extra skin is not shrinking IN so much as it's simply
sliding down until something stops it , whereupon it just bulges at that
point :-( It may be the same in your case.

OTOH, while I'm enjoying looking better (SO much better), my main focus
on a goal weight is to take stress off my feet, knees and back, so
having some jelly-like bulges is annoying and disheartening, but not as
important to me. From a purely detached point of view, it's actually
kind of fascinating in a warped kind of way :-)

    Congrats!

    I'm 5' 8" as well, and recently hit 165 (248 starting weight). I too
decided that wasn't enough after getting there, even though quite a few
pounds ago it certainly seemed like a low enough weight.

FWIW, In addition to deciding to lose a few more pounds, I've been doing
some basic workouts (pushups, crunches, and lunges) 5-6 days a week,
which seem to be helping. I haven't been losing any weight the last few
weeks, but my clothes are definately fitting more losely (I had to buy
more medium sized shirts and 30 inch waist shorts, which I cannot ever
recall wearing in the past), so some changes are still taking place. I'm
certainly feeling better since I started exercising.
