  1. I looked up an exercise plan and it called for:

Push-ups- check.. girly kind and very bad form but did all 4 reps
Side laterals- no weight today but check
Can curls- No weight again but check
Chins between chairs- Done.. though I think I may have more or less done a
    sit up with help.
Dips behind the back- Yeah right! how in the world do you do these? Well I
am sure you do them just fine. How in the world do "I" do them.. lol I went
to attempt it and ummm did not see any posible way I was going to complete
    1. Any tips for doing them?

    Home Squats-check

The muscle most involved is the tricep, the smaller muscle
of the upper arm opposite the bicep. Any other tricep
muscle that you can do will be a good start. Build it up
until you can do a single dip.

There are weight moves like a reverse curl that you could
try. Or for a milder version of a dip, I just reached
backwards and lifted myself out of my chair using the same
muscles. The chair I am in at the moment is spring loaded
so the first part of it lifted a lot less than my entire
body weight. Once the springs hit bottom and I was
lifting my entire weight it got a lot harder to complete
    my dip.

My personal favorite lift for Triceps are Skull crushers....... ;-)

    Kickbacks are good also.

A set of dumbells is an excellent investment, and Oshman's often has the
hex dumbells on sale for 50 cents per lb.

I also invested in a rack for mine. I have a set from 5 lbs. to 35 lbs.

I put the rack on a padded furniture coaster so I could move it for
    mopping around it. <G>

    Tori

    <lol> Sorry!
You can probably google a jpeg for it but basically, you lay flat on a
bench or even on the floor.

Hold a single dumbell with both hands, straight up over your face.
Keep your upper arm parallel and bend back at the elbow, lowering the
weight to right above the top of your head.

Extend it straight up again. Keep the upper arms vertical.

If done right, you will really feel it in the triceps!

If you drop the weight, it'll "crush your skull", hence the name. ;-)

It is normally done with a barbell, but it CAN be done with a dumbell!

Sit on something solid, with room for your hands either side of your seat. I
use a blanket box. Scoot so you're sitting right at the edge; place your
palms either side of you, fingers over the edge. Put your feet out a little
further than your knees are; shift your weight on to your legs. Using your
arm muscles, drop your body slowly, and push up again. Repeat. This exercise
is particularly effective with a small child draped round your neck : )

    Have you found http://www.stumptuous.com/weights.html ?

want to tell me how many calories 52 reps of all the exercises burned. 😉

  8. You probably want to hold off on the dips behind the back until you can do
30 or 40 good pushups. If you ever get there, the next step would be to do
diamond pushups. If you can do many of those, then the dips would be a good
    next step.

At this point anyway, you need to worry about what you can do and how to do
more of those with better form. Hold off on what you can't do for a while
until you stagnate on the stuff you can do.

  10. Thanks.. I did the reverse curls instead.. am confused a bit though I
think.. (not unusual as you have noticed) Ok I THINK this is what I am
doing.. lol 4 sets of each at 15 reps so that would be a total of 52 of

until I do each set or. 1 set rest 1 set rest so on for each? does it

  12. You can do it any way that feels good to you.

Most people do a set then rest then a set then rest and so on, of the same
exercise, and then start the new exercise.

If you want to do 50 reps of the same exercise all at once, that's ok too.

The most important thing is to constantly make progress.

  14. Tori,

I do lots of reps. My husband does heavy weight, less reps. I prefer more
reps. I take a 10lb weight and do tricep curls over my head. I can do about
    35. At about 25, I feel the burn, but keep going. I love the feeling of sore
muscles. Lol. I also have a bar with about 15lbs on both sides. I keep my
legs straight and bend over at the waist and then pull the bar to my hip
area and then go back down. Straight legged dead lifts. These are awesome
for your lower back, butt, back of legs, and even stomach muscles. Sounds
like you are doing really well at trying to get in shape---good for you🙂

Thanks.. I did the reverse curls instead.. am confused a bit though I
think.. (not unusual as you have noticed) Ok I THINK this is what I am
doing.. lol 4 sets of each at 15 reps so that would be a total of 52 of
    each.

    Nope.

your right I did the math wrong it was

    first set-15
    secound-15
    third-12
    fourth-10

    total 52 each 😉

I did 7 differant exercises so that is 364 reps 😉
