Making a study, need advice on "study"

Hi there's been studies which show high vitamin c is effective in healing
acne.
Try google search for vitamin c foundation.

I don't have acne myself, I only brushed over the study but I recall it was
high doses orally combined with lysine.

This kind of study costs lots of money. Since there is no money to be
gained by making health claims for natural substances, you will not be
able to garner a grant. Forget about it.

Not true. NCCAM might fund such a study if the applicant had good
preliminary data. Though I, for one, would at least like to know if
the lemon juice is used topically or orally -- so far, the poster
hasn't said.

You may find good direction by reading how acids were researched and
used in cosmetics and skin peeling:

Alpha Hydroxy Acids
- various types of these acids are used in skin care products
- Dermatologists, Plastic Surgeons and higher end Spas offer
treatments to help people obtain clearer skin through peels.
The most popular acids for plastic surgeons and spas now is glycolic
acid from sugar cane. It's huge business.

Acids may burn but are not equal. Mandelic acid has specific
properties that help treat acne, because it kills bacteria, too.

Citric acid in citrus fruits is also an Alpha, so you may learn of
existing research to guide you.

Cosmetic companies are constantly looking for the newest angle on
products. That could be a group that offers grants.

The first thing to do is to look into the medical literature and see
if you are about to embark on an effort to duplicate studies that have
already been done.

Following that, get in touch with the local university, and ask to
speak with any given departmental secretary. These folks are usually
the ones with the greatest informal knowledge of what is involved,
paperwork-wise, in putting together a study. Departmental secretaries
are the ones researchers turn to when they need a grant proposal typed
up, when they put together a study protocol, when they submit drafts
to journals, etc.

If you are not a professional, you will do yourself a lot of good by
contacting a professional in the field of your interest (in your case,
Dermatology) and seeing if you can team up on this particular question
and combine your efforts. I suspect it would be pretty difficult for
a novice, non-scientist to get all the way from hypothesis to
publication in any acceptable journal.
