  1. Hi
Has anyone got any tips on how to properly clean foods?
(Currently I'm just scrubbing under the tap for a few seconds with a nylon
    brush.)
I can't find any studies to show how much pesticides and other chemicals
    this removes.
    Thanks
    Anth

  2. Have you tested by H2O2

  3. Not tried peroxide - might be expensive.

I soak them in hot water for one minute only. Wipe with paper towel. Repeat.
I also use HCI for added protection

    But that's a . . . a . . . CHEMICAL !!!

If there are pesticides, they'll soak into the vegetables.
What will you do about those?

Sadly *nothing* can be done about those, they would crop up in foods
    regardless of cleaning etc.

If you really care about pesticides in your food, buy
    organic.

Organic not only is expensive (4x) has also been shown to have pesticide
    content as well.

If I can minimise the pesticide and fertiliser content then that's a bonus.

Peroxide is a disinfectant, which might be useful if you
were afraid your food contained germs. You shouldn't
expect it to be effective for pesticides.

I've heard of products sold for cleaning food, but they
mostly have psychological benefits, like the way
that "filters" on the end of cigarettes help smokers feel
    better about smoking.

If you really care about pesticides in your food, buy
    organic.

  6. The amount of food I eat, I simply couldn't keep up with growing it.
Like you, I also distrust people who claim that their product is organic, as
we all know some people are not trustworthy.

Along with anything that lives in dirt.
