You really need to work on your phraseology.

commonly used for food. The only sense in which it
is healthful is as a substitute for lard or partially hydrogenated
oils in applications which require stability at high temperature
for many hours, such as the oils used in deep-fryers at
fast food places.Much better is to avoid fried food, or prepare it yourself
in less saturated oils that are only used once, then discarded.
Yo Mark,
Check your research, saturated fats are no longer considered the
villians of health. That bogus theory has been debunked by the late
Dr. Atkins, and others, including Mary Enig, one of the foremost
researchers in fats and lipids. Saturated fats are actually essential
for opitimal health. Check out these interviews...

Add Dr. Gabe Mirkin to the list who say saturated fat is a necessary
part of a healthy diet.
It's getting so you can't tell what to do. You could go for 20 years
doing everything you thought was healthy and find out you were wrong
all along - or maybe not. The old concept of moderation seems to hold
up well through the years.

That is total baloney. It hasn't been "debunked" by genuine
scientists. There is considerable evidence to support the link
between saturated fat and cardiovascular disease. The only
essential fats are linoleic acid and linolenic acid, which are not
saturated fats.

Interesting that if you search on Google for "Ravnskov",
you hit on all sorts of colloidal silver, chelationist, and
similar quack medicine sites. This guy does appear to
have some scientific credentials, but he is most definitely
outside of the mainstream. He has a popular book _The_
_Cholesterol_Myths_ that attacks the idea that saturated
fats and cholesterol have a role in development of
cardiovascular disease.
This flies in the face of what is known about healthful
diet for avoiding heart disease:

And I repeat, coconut oil is among the worst food oils
in this regard -- not much different than lard or butter.

I meant to say ". . . among the vegetable oils . . .".

Your refrain, that coconut oil is among the worst food oils, is simply
incorrect. For decades, Americans have been fed dreadfully bad
information on fats and oils, based on bad information. Have a look at
Sally Fallon's website for more info. www.WestonAPrice.org.
I also recommend that you read her book, Nourishing Traditions.

Yo Markie,
You're banking on old science. There is nothing better then good butter.

Actually, so much new research shows that optimal health requires the
right fats in the diet. Those are an essential fatty acid balance of 2
to 1 of omega 6 to omega 3. Unfortunately, most Americans have diets
that are way too high in omega 6. That's why supplementing with fish
oils, like cod liver oil, are essential. Additionally, there is an
important place in the diet for saturated fats. They have gotten a
very bad rap over the past few decades, but the science was just bad.
Up to a few decades ago, traditional oils, like palm and coconut, and
cultured butter were part of the everyday diet, with little heart
disease as a result.
You can find an interesting piece about the need for saturated fat, as
a means to raise HDL (good cholesterol) in this week's New York Times
(see link below). There are also some good interviews on my website.

When did I say anything about petroleum products?
Are you having another drug hallucination?

Yesterday, he was hallucinating a second testicle!
