I have to check the internet archives, but this TT looked to me completely Indurainesque! When was the last time that the distance between 1st and 10th is more than 5 mins?
The situation for the Pyrenees is quite beautiful! (O.K except that I wish the Iban and Haimar were a bit more within striking distance (2-3min instead of 4-5min). Shall we see either Armstrong and or Jan collapsing?
Will Vino try to win the tour, or will (Deutsche)Telekom call the team manager to order them to help Jan? Will Armstrong try to set up some "Qualition of the billing"? Could Euskatel negotiate a podium position?
Before the final stage on the Champs Elysees, LA and Jan will be separated by only a few seconds and Cooke and McEwen will still be only a few points apart. All four riders will be fighting for sprint bonuses including the finale. The rest of the peleton will be wondering what to do.

Which was the Tour in which two top contenders raced like maniacs from the start on the last stage, and by the time they got to the finish it was just the two of them, with the rest of the field several minutes behind?

I wouldn't go as far as Alex, but otoh Ullrich and Vino are very good friends. Neither will give up their own chances for the other, but they could very well be working together against Armstrong.

Hinault and Zoetemelk in 1982 (?) Hinault had more than a 6 minute lead but wouldn't let Zoetemelk get away - Not even a consolation victory in the last stage.

Who is to say that Ullrich wouldn't help out Vino? Didn't Vino not challenge for the gold medal in the 2000 Oly road race (when all 3 riders were on Telekom)?
