  1. Lance gets an unfair advantage over the rest of the field by having a good team. There are

I'll give you one thing: you've got balls - big ones. They may be Lance's, and bouncing off your
chin, but you've still got them.

Suprise, suprise... I would have expected so much more from a web TV user ;-)

    One word. Prosthesis.

    But beyond that...

The TTT is a beautiful event. But let's look at it analytically rather than emotionally.

This is not just a paceline. It is a complex, 9 way equation where the goal is to maximize the speed
of the 5th strongest rider. There are constraints that no more than 4 inputs can go to zero and that
certain riders can not be among the 4. I will leave the masturbatory number crunching perl code to
Conellly since that's his gig. But it's not easy.

Next time you're on one of those rip-each-other's- legs-off rides, add a no-drop constraint. Now
maximize speed. It's way different. That's why some observant rbr readers time the pulls. There is
information there about the variables to the equation. If LANCE was doing shorter pulls than other
Posties you can bet that every rider on the line knew it before the stage to Alpe d'Huez.

Let's look at it from an economic standpoint. What happens if the TTT is removed. Among support
riders the value of flat land workhorses drops, and the value of mountain goats rises. Slava isn't
riding for Postal anymore, he signs with a TT3 team like JFJs and spend July riding crits in
Milwaukee during Superweek instead of the Tour.

So that money that Johan is currently sending to Ekimov goes to a climber instead. And where does
Johan find a climber? Does he look for some dirt poor, rail thin Spaniard and do another Heras-like
move? You bet he does. There is some quality guy riding in opposition to LANCE instead of in support
of him, because of the TTT. And it isn't just Postal that does this. Every team with money and GC
    aspirations does it.

The well funded teams would still have a huge advantage. An additional climber in a mountain stage
might not count for as much time as a workhorse in a TTT, but that advantage is played out over more
stages. The only thing that would change is that teams would be more specialized and less well
rounded. This is not a good thing.

The TTT is a beautiful event. You guys that don't like it should start timing pulls. There is
information there that you are missing.

  8. UNFAIR MINUTES ----- YEP! He is right TTT should be banned because it is unfair to great riders with
lousy teams. A great rider with a bad team is already being punished enough because he does not get
adequate support during the entire tour and then the Tour piles on and punishes the poor guy with a
bad team even more by taking more time out of his hide when it is not his fault that his team
sucks.----That is why Lemond was so great he won even though being handicapped with poor
teams.--------- The TTT is beautiful to watch and there is some merit in making the whole team of
sprinters, climbers, all-arounders compete and finish all at once in a time as fast as possible (not
like a normal stage where half the team of climbers or sprinters take it easy after doing their job
and setting up their specialist to win)---- If they have to have a TTT than it should be for a large
cash prize or better accomodations for the rest of the tour but it should have no say in the overall
time of the riders. It ideally should be scrapped or replaced with another individual time trial.
(heah I have other internet accounts but I like webtv too)

If the great rider is so great, perhaps he should think about getting signed on by a *good*
    team. Hmmm???

Yep. They invented the TTT just for Lance. Just as usenet was invented for you to inform the world
    of such atrocities.

Kinda funny isn't it? They put the TTT back into the tour specifically to screw him after his win in
1999. I suppose they will take it out again if he wins this year, considering how much better USPS
    was than everyone else.

    ummmmmmmmmmmm...

Do you really WRITE this nonsense that you continually post? Or do you have your army of trained
monkeys sit in a room and type this junk out until a message is formed?

    Intelligent rbr'ers want to know.
