  1. As we have a fair representation of engineers and a few Defence Force personnel here....

What is the difference between mechanical engineers and civil engineers?

Mechanical engineers build weapons and civil engineers build targets.

Steve(How come when I studied engineering the university sent me letters with BE Civil on them? - Did they think I was not civil?)A

Civil Engineer is as much of an oxymoron as Environmental Engineer.

(Note to self: Don' t mention this to spouse (BE, UWA))

Hey....do I get bonus points???? I fit both categories.

Of course, being an electrical engineer I am fully aware that there are only
10 types of people in this world.......those that understand binary and
    those that don't.

Gags (also aware of the fact that 42 is 9 x 6 in base 13!!!)

  10. I don't have a problem with engineers. Particularly not the money my engimineer brings home and lets me spend.

    Haw haw.

why are they called 'engineers' anyhow? never seen one NEAR an engine nor do they have large ears! (do they?)

    I thought it was:

"six munce ago I couldn't spell injuneer, now I is one"

    Never mind

  14. A bunch of engineers are sitting around at a party, discussing the
    nature of God.

The mechanical engineer states that God must also be a mechanical
engineer because "if you look at all the pulleys and levers that drive
the body, how the tendons and muscles and bones all work together,
    well, it's just amazing."

The chemical engineer says that no, God has to be a chemical engineer
because "if you look at all the chemical processes that drive the body,
how the hormones and the brain and the glands and everything else all
    interact, well, it's just astounding."

The electrical engineer says that no, God has to be an electrical
engineer because "if you look at the circuitry of the body, how the
thousands upon millions of nerve cells transmit signals from one part
to another, well, it boggles the mind."

The civil engineer speaks up last of all and says, no, God is
definitely a civil engineer, because "only a civil engineer would run a
    sewer through a playground."

  16. Hmm, wouldn't that have to be an environmental engineer?

My partner is an environmental engineer and he gets to play with sewage and other such lovely stuff.

Environmental engineering is a sub-field within civil engineering --
much as telecommunications engineering is a sub-field within electrical
    engineering.

Back in my engineering student days, we had a multiple choice mid semester test. Somehow one of my dodgy student acquaintances obtained a copy of the question paper before the test. He worked out the answers. As there was a choice of 4 answers for each question, he turned the string of 30 answers into a 30 digit base 4 number then converted that into a decimal number and memorised the single decimal number. He then went into the exam and re-converted to get the answers.

This was at a Uni at which someone on this forum tutors engineers!

Oooh I should warn my Dad... he's a civil engineer... working in
    telecommunications...
