I was wondering if anyone knew of lightweight (titanium maybe) U-locks? Seems a shame to have a 16
Ti bike and 2 pound ulock weighing it down.

take the lock when you really need the high level of security -- carry a smaller lock to use as a
deterrent when running errands etc. If you commute consider just leaving the big one locked at your
destination as opposed to carrying it around with you.Dani

Ultimately not as strong, but good enough for mid-security/high-visibility areas. -

would be for a racer to show up on the finsh line with this clipped to the seattube of his bike,

riding my nice racing bike. Simply because I never want to be tempted to lock it anywhere. I simply
take the bike with me everywhere I go. If I can't do that, the bike stays home and I ride my
commuter bike.

You could glue false weights to the top tube as well. Make people think your bike needs an extra
900grams to be UCI legal. -

take one of the krypto heavy duty chains, cut off two links, and rope them together with some string
and some newspaper inside the provided sleeve, witgh the real links sticking out each end. hang
around your shoulder or waist courier style. those puppies weigh as much as a light bike.anthony "weak link" anagnostou
postscript--
woudl that work, actually? if you took a short piece of aircraft cable and swaged it to two good
links of the krypto chain, and left it concealed and padded in the sleeve, then it woudl probably
secure the lock as well as the real thing. the only thieves that would attempt to steal something
locked with that chain probably know what they're doing (pretty serious lock), and would get the
bike regardless. the cable would stop it just getting walked off with.not worth the chance, i suppose.
myself, i just have a beater that rides well but cost nothing. anytime i have to lock up somewhere,
she's my ride. -

True stories:
I did my first two crits this year with fenders on my road bike. I did at least one more where I
forgot to take my lock off. I think this just inspires your opponents, because nobody, and I mean
NOBODY, wants to get dropped before the guy with the lock on his bike. Not even in novice racing,
