RR: Moscow Mountain

either (the benefits of a friend that lives right on the mountain...)

It was just fun to get out in the sun. I hear Silver Mountain is open
for the season so that might be the next stop when I have time...

Silver is open and trail building is going full steam up there. I talked to
Scott the head mtb dude up there and it's all looking good for the summer.

Vaguely?

No matter which direction you climb, it's very interesting. Climb it
such that the switchback section is uphill, and you get to experience
the sharp agony of rapid ascent.

Run it in the opposite direction, and the uphill is gradual, but still
very interesting. The downhill is sweet, and somewhat dangerous.

Were you drunk, or extremely tired?

yes, they are busy little trail builders down there. I get their listserve,
they have regular work parties all the time. Headwaters, Nemesis is brand
new, and I think Cave is the one they are working on now.

There's another new one I heard about - Rock and a Hard Place. It's
short, and has a technical trick that, as I heard it, is impossible to
ride. I cannot imagine how to, at least.

It involves a 20-ft. diameter boulder, and a 18"-diamenter tree, and
the trail runs right between. I understand that there's about 16
inches of space.

Oh, and this trail is side-cut on a 45-degree slope.

Headwaters is pretty buff, but the old section is getting skidded up by
cyclocrossers. Luckily, the initial climb in discourages real newbies,
or those of us who are pathetically out of shape.
