A Crit is a race that is usually held in a urban area over a short course
with lots of laps. Many times it is held downtown so it is easy for
spectators to watch.The categories are of racers are defined by USA Cycling and are for U.S.
road, track and cyclocross races. Men have Cat 5 (beginner) - Cat 1/Pro and
women have Cat 4 - Cat 1/Pro. You move up in the categories by earning
upgrade points determined by your race results. Cat 5 to Cat 4 for men is a
little different. You can move to Cat 4 by partisipating in a set number of
