I have had a very busy week.
One particular high point was the Camden Cyclists meeting, with John
Adams as guest speaker and Mayer Hillman in attendance. A brilliant
talk from John, including some amazing video footage of kids not using
a pedestrian footbridge, dodging across the A1 over and around the
barriers - guess what? This behaviour has, thus far, resulted in no
serious injuries! Incredible. As ever, John makes you think.

I've been working just off the A34 where it's a NSL dual carriageway and so
have the 'choice' of riding 500m in each direction to ride 360 degrees round
an NSL roundabout or crossing the narrow central reservation and going
approximately 100m on the NSL dual carriageway.
Suffice to say that I advise that one dismount completely before pushing a
bike across a dual carriageway, especially if you're using SPDs and pedals
you're unfamiliar with (my previous pedals disengaged much more nicely).
Actually, there's a 3rd option, but I've only just found it and have yet to
work out whether it's a right of way, and if not, how to get permission to
use it. Suffice to say, there's a concrete track going under the dual
carriageway which goes through a 4m diameter corrugated iron tube with a
flat 3 metre wide concrete surface on the bottom part. If I don't post a
question about how to get access and how to find if it's a right of way
soon, someone please nag me.
